Carousel explores memory, rumination, longing, desire and the restless movement of thought - the way certain memories and emotions can circle the mind again and again.
Each horse holds a memory: an object, a place, a moment, a feeling. Like a carousel, the mind can remain caught in a continuous cycle, returning repeatedly to what has been, what might have been, or what we still long for.
The body may remain stationary while the mind wanders. Some thoughts are comforting and familiar, others unsettling, distressing or difficult to escape. The imagery reflects this shifting emotional landscape, moving between the idealised and the uneasy.
Like the sound of a carousel itself, the work can feel loud and grating, eerie and unsettling, or quiet and comforting. The carousel becomes a metaphor for life and the thoughts we carry with us - always moving, yet sometimes returning to the same place.
A selection of early works from Carousel. The collection is currently evolving, with further pieces to follow.
