I am a contemporary artist working primarily in graphite, exploring birds, animals and the natural world through drawing. My practice is informed by a background of art therapy, counselling and art facilitation bringing an awareness of emotion, feeling and mood to the work. A strong passion for conservation is also central to my connection to the natural world.

 

I am currently developing several collections. One explores movement and energy of birds in flight, with a particular focus on wing movement. Firefall is a developing body of work incorporating raw bark from trees fallen by wildfire, bringing together natural materials and drawing. Alongside these, I am working on Carousel, a collection exploring thought, memory and the way experiences remain with us.

 

Born and raised in Highgate, North London, to a French Creole father and a Welsh mother, I spent ten years living on the West Coast of Ireland before returning to Hertfordshire, England, in 2005.

 

Self taught, I have worked as an artist since 1990, across a range of creative fields, including published illustrations in England and Ireland, private commissions, demonstrations, talks and workshops.

While graphite remains at the heart of my practice, alongside charcoal and occasionally incorporating mixed media.

 

For me, drawing is more than a profession; it is a way of connecting with and responding to the world around me.
